Confession time: I have a problem with clothing snobbery.
Not when it comes to other peoples clothing, but when it comes to seeing something on the rack. I shudder to think how many perfect items I have just waltzed past not realising their potential. I am rather picky when it comes to what I take into the change room. Partly because I am usually shopping on my lunch break or whilst running errands which means that I don’t have a huge amount of time – I want to get in and get out!
Also, partly because I have this weird thing where the moment I get into the change room I discover that I need to pee. Does this happen to anyone else, or is it my burden alone? Seriously, its SO annoying!
Anyway, lets get back on topic! I tend to look at the clothing on the rack and find six billion reasons why an item wouldn't work (and you only get to take in 5 items! It's like the clothing version of that show 'Survivor'!). And whilst in some situations I am right, I know that this picky attitude sometimes stops me breaking out of my comfort zone.
This dress was one of those items that I thought wouldn't work. I am so used to tight fitting dresses that I barely look at ones that flare out. But I loved the neon yellow hem so much that I gave it a try and I am so glad I did! It fits like a glove, and is high cut enough that I can wear it to family gatherings. It is also perfect with my neon wedges!
So the lesson I learnt is: Don’t judge clothing by the hanger. Sometimes you just need to put it on a warm body to bring it to life. I also am making a promise to myself to take some time to go shopping – not just in a hurry, but to take time to really look.
What I'm Wearing: Kmart neon hem skater dress.
