Target Bellecurve Launch (& a giveaway!)

With Fiona Faulkner the Target Bellecurve ambassador at the launch
Hanging out with Fiona Falkiner the brand ambassador for Target new Bellcurve range. Both wearing the Lolita dress.

Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to join some other plus size bloggers for Target’s Bellecurve launch event. If Bellecurve sounds familiar, it may be because it was previously stocked by Myer (with a higher price tag). However, Target has answered the calls for an affordable plus size range (that doesn't look like you raided your nanna’s closet) by snatching the brand for themselves and re-launching it at their great prices. To celebrate the launch, they have also given me a $50 Target voucher to give away to one of you lovely ladies (but more about that later!).

So,e of my favourite pieces at the Target Bellecurve launch
Wearing some of my favourite pieces - the Dazzle me skirt and the Glamourous life sleeveless top.

The line: My honest opinions on the line are actually fantastic. The quality is great, the detail is spot-on & the styles are versatile. Designed by Kerry Pietrobon, the designer of Harlow & the original Bellecurve Myer line, it is indeed a reflection of her passion for making plus size women fashionable & sexy. You won’t find any baggy, shapeless sacks – but great detailing, lots of sequins & embellishments (!!!), flattering tailoring and lovely fabrics.

The colour story seems to be black with hints of silver & gold, and loud bangs of colourful floral like the Kaleidoscope Maxi Dress. I love the combo of black & loud floral in the Kaleidoscope Bodycon Dress. As with all body con dresses, I recommend shape wear underneath. The current range, called “Out on the Town”, focuses on taking you from work to drinks in the same outfit – and for me, it totally achieves that.

A highlight for me about this line was the feeling of the fabrics – a lot of plus size clothing seems to be made with super thick fabric to hold you in, but this range WON’T make you sweat your makeup off this summer. Instead the fabrics are light & flowing. I felt so comfortable in all the items I tried on, at no point was I uncomfortable and thinking “I’ll just suck in my tummy all night when I wear it”…. Because let’s face it, tummy-sucking-in lasts about 10 minutes before you forget….

Another huge plus about the line is that they are releasing a new set every 8 weeks (!!!) with the next one scheduled to be “Summer Adventure”. I'm really looking forward to some of the graphic prints & bright colours in the next drop, so do keep your eyes open for it!

Availability: My only complaint (and I expressed this to Target, so hopefully next drop wont have this problem) is that the availability in store is kind of terrible. My Target (Chatswood) only have 4 items, none of them being the items I wanted! Online however was a different story as they are constantly dropping in new stock. My advice, if you can’t find what you are looking for in store or online, call them. Let them know that you came specifically for that line and that will help the store managers know that they need to get more stock next time.

Price Range: The line starts at $49 and goes up to $79. I know, its ridiculously good value!

I'd love to see Bellecurve come out with some cute and girly shorts for summer. And I'm also a fan of low cut tops - as they say, show off your best assests! I've liked you on facebook, I thought I already had :)

Have liked your FB page :) Would love to find well-cut button-up office shirts that don't look like the buttons are being pulled apart by large boobs.

I would like to see some more colours! More sequins! And some tailored cropped jackets in flattering colours and styles.

I'd love a collection of menswear inspired pieces. Some high waisted wide leg trousers in a colour other than black (hunter green anyone?). Cropped skinny lapel tuxedo jacket. The ultimate crisp white shirt dress, with goregous pearl-like buttons. A form-fitting aviator jacket.

I REALLY want this collection to exist now.
