My Life as a Hooker

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have an announcement to make – Last week I became a Hooker.

Now, before you get ahead of yourself, let me explain – I have recently become obsessed with hooking, also known as crocheting! Don’t worry, it’s all very above board & has nothing to do with prostitution, I swear. The closest I come to that is trading Dale food for kisses – which I think is a perfectly sweet deal :)

My love affair with crochet began with trying to figure out a way to join my knitted squares together without sewing them. I wanted a method that was more decorative & less dependent on me finding the right colour thread! So I pulled out the random crochet hook I owned (bought to assist with picking up dropped stitches) and fiddled around.

After creating about 600 new ways of “crocheting” – which looked far more like tying random knots with a stick - I admitted defeat and watched some YouTube videos. Finally – the answers I was searching for were right in front of me in full colour! With the (extreme) help of the lovely ladies on YouTube who share their How-to-Crochet videos I figured the whole thing out. Then, ten minutes later I was making a granny square. A day later, I was making a blanket! And needless to say, it has all just cascaded from there.

On the weekend the Mothership, 2 of my sisters and I went on an excursion to the Spotlight at Castle Hill. Can I just say – why do all craft stores look about 50 years old?? Perhaps they are too busy being crafty to move! Anywho, we had fun playing with yarns, getting lost & looking at fabric. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with the ladies of our family!

So far as a hooker I have begun 2 blankets (who will go to 2 very special people) and a scarf made of the most incredibly soft yarn! They are gorgeous & I’m loving every hooky minute of it!

Sunny xx
