DIY Nail Stickers

I recently took my acrylic nails off (I do it for about 6 months every few years) to give both my nails & my wallet a break. I really love having them off for a little while because I can be so much more adventurous with my nails when they are shorter.

Lately I have been experimenting with making DIY nail stickers (lets face it, why would you buy them when you could make them for a whole lot less!) and I am loving the results.

What you'll need to make your own: clear sticky tape (also known as cello tape or scotch tape), an old mug or bowl, paper towel, nail polish and a pair of sharp scissors/nail scissors/nail clippers.

Lay a sheet of kitchen towel in the bottom of you bowl or mug to stop any nail polish dripping. Stick a strip of tape across the top so that the sticky side is facing down & suspended in mid air. Paint the non-sticky side of the tape in whatever nail polish you want to use. I used silver, pinks & blues. Wait until your nail polish is completely dry (the longer you wait the better it will be - overnight is best if you can).

Once the polish is dry you can cut the tape into any shape you like - I cut mine into strips to make the above pattern but you could cut triangles, squares, diamonds, stars etc. The only limit is your imagination!

Just remember that you need to trim any overhanging edges nice and clean (make sure your clippers/scissors are nice & sharp) and finish with a clear top coat.

You can also paint your nails a solid colour & accent with a couple stripes of a contrasting colour. I'm going to try the hot pink seen above on the nail with some accent stripes in bright orange next!

Enjoy DIY-ing! Sunny xx
